Cook the Book: 100 Cookies

Switching things up this month with a new cookbook for my #CookTheBook series I started earlier this year. This time I'm focusing on 100 Cookies by Sarah Kieffer, the sweet tooth bible! When I saw this book, I knew with 100% certainty that this picky eater would actually like every recipe in the book!

Despite it's name, 100 Cookies contains over 100 recipes from classic cookies to extravagant cookies, brownies to fruity bars, and a few extra goodies like no-churn ice cream to finish it out. Sarah has an introductory chapter as well that discusses all the kitchen tools and ingredients you will need, and exactly what percent cacao that chocolate bar really should be! Finally, skip to the end to find the link to the ultimate 100 Cookies Spotify playlist! Sarah makes fool-proof cookie recipes for you to make again and again, and helps you up your fancy baking game, one cookie at a time!

#01: Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

When you think of a cookie, the first one that comes to mind is the classic chocolate chip cookie! I love soft and fluffy chocolate chip cookies, which is what Cookie #01 is, but luckily if you prefer a crispy cookie or to elevate your cookie with browned butter and sea salt, Cookies #02 and #03 give you options 🙌 These were perfect - nothing much more to say! Shared with a fully-vaccinated birthday picnic!

#09: Brownie Cookies

Okay I love brownies, and these had the perfect brownie flavor, but in a cookie shape, which made them super easy to eat. The batter was a bit scary at first since it was so runny, but they lifted off the parchment paper just fine. These cookies were super special because I got to share them with my coworkers! I used to bring in extra baked goods to work pre-covid, but we haven't been back to work yet. Luckily work required us all to stop by the office recently since we had to pack up our items to get our carpet replaced. We all went on different days, but I dropped a few cookies off at my coworkers' desks before I left!

#70: Neapolitan Cookies

These cookies were such a fun one to make! They seem daunting, but the trick is to just make one dough, divide it into three portions, adding cocoa powder to one, and freeze-dried strawberries (thanks, Target!) to another. I recommend rolling the final Neapolitan cookie dough in coarse white sugar to really make these pop! I learned about the differences between Dutch-process and natural cocoa powder in the process too!
